The Hiawatha Experience

We’re glad you stopped in for a visit! From our home here in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan we work with folks around the country to build their dreams. Here, on the shore of Lake Superior (or Gitchee Gumee as Longfellow referred to it in his classic poem “The Song of Hiawatha”), we are surrounded by rich traditions and exceptional natural beauty. These same qualities are the foundation of our company.

More than any other type of home construction, log homes are the product of visions. Visions born, quite often, over the course of many years and many hours of planning. It is our goal, and privilege, to assist each of our clients in bringing their vision to reality, to create a home unique in character, and unsurpassed in natural beauty.

We are committed to customer service and product quality, and through the years (over twenty!), we've found that this approach not only creates satisfied customers, it builds friendships.

We truly believe that Hiawatha Log Homes are "A Notch Above the Others". Here's why:

Customer Service. Our professional, computer-assisted custom design services enable our clients to create exactly the home they desire. We are with you every step of the way, including after your home is built. We’ll address any of your concerns in our post-sale follow-up, plus you have the opportunity to capitalize on your investment (and share your enthusiasm!) by participating in the Hiawatha Customer Referral Program.

Product Quality. Precision-milled, kiln-dried, pre-cut and pre-drilled logs in 8", 10" or 12" diameters provide unsurpassed structural integrity and longevity. Each log is inspected and grade-stamped according to a program independently monitored by Timber Products Inspection, Inc.

Commitment to Industry Standards. We are proud members of The National Association of Home Builders' Log Homes Council. We diligently practice sustainable forestry management. All of the timber we purchase is harvested under the guidelines of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss your ideas and plans for your log home. Whether it is one of our outstanding standard models or a custom design, we would love to work with you to produce a home that will reflect your personality.

Warm wishes,

Paul Essinger
President
